FEED Scholarship
The Fred Eckdahl Educational Development (FEED) Scholarship was established in 1995 by David and Nancy Nystrom in memory of their son Fred Eckdahl and business partner David H. Stainton. The F.E.E.D scholarship was established to provide financial assistance and encouragement for young people who might otherwise "fall through the cracks" and be excluded from continued education because of financial limitations, GPA reasons, or circumstances that prevent the availability of financial aid.
In recent years our emphasis with the F.E.E.D. Scholarship has been to provide financial support for higher education for the children of CHLA and BFLA. F.E.E.D. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on their personal goals, struggles, desire for success and financial need to complete their educational goals. The financial award is not intended to be a full scholarship, but an award that might make the difference in the student's ability to continue their educational studies. This Scholarship is intended to support the children of our community and to break the chains of poverty through education.
TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE:
1. Scholarships to junior college, or Vocational/Tech School.
2. Scholarship for first year student attending a four-year college.
All recipients of F.E.E.D. Scholarships are encouraged to repay the F.E.E.D. Scholarship Fund in an amount equivalent to the award they received as their success in life and circumstances permit, however, this is not mandatory. The repayment of this award and/or contribution to the fund ensures the continued availability and growth of the fund so that more students will receive the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams. All recipients of F.E.E.D Scholarships are asked to submit a brief report to the selection committee describing their experience each year of their scholarship award
The F.E.E.D. Scholarship Fund is a non-profit 501c3 and contributions are welcome and tax deductible.
